Open Letter to Matthew Nordhaus
Dear Matthew,
For a while, I think people might have believed that you didn’t have anything to do with your wife’s business interests in town.
Even when you’ve not been 100% compliant with recusing yourself from board discussions about your wife’s non-operational pot shop, you’ve long banged the drum of non-involvement. This isn’t really true. You know it. I know it. And lots of people whose names are on the ballot in town know it, too.
The people who don’t know the details are about to, though.
Any illusions of a Chinese Wall between you and the million-dollar license your wife holds (thanks to the contract she has with your publicly elected board) were shattered when you used the power of your elected seat on that same board in early September to refer to the lawsuit (long since settled way back in April 2021) between me and your wife, and thereafter, decided to post the clip of this little rant to your Select Board FB page.
And there in the comments, your wife shared the docket number of the case of Brownson v. Nordhaus.
“Holy shit,” I thought. “Why on earth would the Nordhauses want people to read the court case?”
And then it dawned on me: you counted on no one reading it. Because if anyone took the time, they’d be floored. Also, you were probably baiting me into telling GINNED UP again. (Boring. Been there, done that.)
There’s a far better story to tell.
And it is this: You and your wife are not good for Littleton.
This has been the case for a long time. The two of you, I have come to believe, have played a long game to get where you are today. And I, like you, Matthew, “couldn’t live with myself if I let this go without making sure that Littleton residents were informed.”
Honestly, there are times when I cannot believe the shit luck I’ve run into when it comes to having to speak truth to power and money in this town. But, fuck it, here we are.
And . . . here we go.
TTYS,
Jkb
