That Handshake Meeting, Your Half-Hearted Recusal, and now Verbal Outbursts, Matthew
You might want to stay home, Matthew.
When you go to a breakfast meeting (click HERE) where your wife agrees to sell the Apothecary for $800,000.00 and you shake the buyer’s hand, it looks bad. (Late October/Early November 2021)
When you recuse yourself from the Select Board table (click HERE) because your wife’s HCA is being discussed only for you to come back into the room for 38 additional minutes of that HCA discussion, it looks bad. (January 22, 2024)
When you attend a Planning Board meeting and your wife gets up to blame others (click HERE) and you start yelling about “Town Code” from the audience, it looks bad.
Moreover, it’s a distraction.
Notice how your wife, the woman in the gray hat, and Mark (your fellow Select Board member) all turn to look at you? That’s because you, Matthew, disrupted the Planning Board meeting (from your seat in the 4th row) during the Planning Board’s discussion with your wife about your wife’s long-since expired Special Permit (click HERE).
I get the idea that you want to “be there” for your wife, but given your elected role—and not for nothing, given the attention that’s been drawn to your questionable behavior in that same elected role over the last several months—I’m not sure how your verbal outburst helps anything.
In fact, I think it’s just one more example of your unbridled arrogance, your disregard of ethical standards, and—I think, most troubling—your general sense of entitlement to do whatever you please.
TTYS,
Jkb
P.S. I noticed that your wife used the words “inside baseball.” I don’t think that was a mere coincidence.
